It has always seemed to me that 95% of the people who come
to me for a reading are somehow divinely guided in my direction. Rarely do I
get people who are simply asking for a reading, just for fun. I truly believe
that my soul purpose is to help others.
Over the years that I have been offering readings, one of
the most common things I find is that too many people, especially women, do not
have a healthy amount of self-esteem, (self-worth). They are content, or not,
with simply settling, in their relationships, work, and even just in life. No one has ever really told them that they
are so much more than just a spouse, a mother/father, a daughter/son, a friend,
an employee, or a boss. They have never
understood that they are a unique and deserving soul, whose purpose is to shine
their light in the world. What they don’t understand is that in order to do so,
they must first shine brightly within themselves.
Making friends with who you are, and loving that person, is
the first step in finding yourself, your self -worth. Somewhere along the way
we have been taught to put others first; and that putting yourself or your
needs first is selfish. But let me ask you this, if you are not happy in your
own being, how can you possibly, truly make anyone else happy? Putting YOU
first, and finding happiness within your soul allows you to let that happiness
rub off on others. If you are happy, that reflects out onto those in your life.
If you are unhappy, that also reflects
out onto those around you. Good or bad, what you reflect out always lands
squarely on those closest to you. So again ask yourself, what do you want to
reflect out onto your family, your loved ones, your best friend? Be the light
you want to see in others.
For now, I will leave you with one of my favorite quotes by
Marianne Williamson from her book, A Return to Love: Reflections on the
Principles of “A Course in Miracles”. The
quote goes, “Our deepest fear is not that
we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It
is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who
am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not
to be? You are a child of God. You’re playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel
insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to
make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us;
it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give
other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.”
